Equipment To Take Bow Hunting

The equipment needed for a successful hunting trip in a nutshell.

These are the things that I think are essential for a great bow hunting trip. Your views may differ but I have found that just about all needs are covered with just a few of these pieces of equipment.

Obviously the first thing you should be packing is your compound bow. It really doesn’t matter what bow you prefer and when you visit just about any archery or bow hunting forum you are going to get a wide range of passionate views about the various brands of bows. As long as the bow fits your body type you should be good to go.

Pack at least a couple of spare bow strings in case the unthinkable happens and you need to go for a spare. The bow sight you use is also going to be a matter of personal preference. But the important thing to ensure is that you take along a backup bow sight as well as a few spare sight pins just in case you drop your bow or the sight becomes damaged in some other way.

The bow stabilizer is another important piece of equipment that you are going to need. For the majority of hunters the stabilizer is going to be set up as a standard part of the equipment and it is not really crucial that a backup is packed although it could be handy if you have the room to store it.

Don’t forget your spare arrow rest. Again it is always handy to have one in reserve and they don’t weigh a lot so you will barely notice you have it. It might also pay to have an extra bow release on hand if you prefer to use them.

Finally, when it comes to arrows, you never really know how many you are going to need. You might fire half a dozen of them without losing or damaging any of them and then suddenly, one after the other, they start to dwindle away. Keep them in reserve back at the lodge for a complete supply should they start to become unusable. Broadheads and nocks also tend to get damaged in the rigors of the hunt so they will also have to be packed into the bow case too.

There are a lot of items that some people require to feel comfortable while out hunting and these are probably the bare essentials.

Be Comfortable With the Right Hunting Jacket

BUying a compound bow is the start of a process of picking up the right equipment to ensure a successful day out hunting. Ther eare a lot of other peripheral pieces of equipment and one of the necessary items is the hunting jacket. Wearing a jacket (as well as pants) that is properly suited to the conditions and provides you with the right comfort requirements is a very important factor in the success or failure out in the field.

The clothes that we wear when we go out hunting can play an integral part in the enjoyment of the day and this translates to whether we wind up being successful. Wearing clothes that are uncomfortable means that we are going to be distracted on things other than preparing for the next shot.

A good hunting jacket could mean that it is warm enough, waterproof enough, breathable enough or contains enough storage. It could mean that it provides scent blocking technology to allow us to get closer to the target without scaring it off or it could be a combination of a number of these factors.

Take the time to get to know the various hunting apparel manufacturers and understand what they specialize in and how they can improve your performance. Some of the names to try to remember include Under Armour, Scent Blocker, Scent Lok, Sitka, ArcticShield, Natural Gear and Rivers West. Naturally there are many others that may also be appropriate.

Where Did That Water Come From?

There are certain steps that should be taken to ensure that water damage is cleaned up as smoothly and as efficiently as possible. Failing to do so could find you in even more trouble than you may have been to start with. You’d rather spend a little money than wind up with a dirty great hole where your wall used to be.

Look out for any abnormalities that may result in more damage than you have expected. Because of the unique behaviors of the way water runs and pools water restoration can be a complex, complicated procedure. Since a lot of kitchen floors are made out of materials such as tile, linoleum, or hardwood mopping up the water after an overflow is relatively easy but should be undertaken as a matter of some urgency.

Creating possible health hazards for both the person handling the cleanup and house occupants. No matter how the water arrived, mopping it up as fast as you can is essential in minimizing the damage. It is possible for water damaged drywall to match your skill. Besides requiring the services of a fire and water restoration company, water or fire and smoke damage to a structure may also necessitate the services of a contractor remodeling restoration expert.

The Push To Save Water

Water restrictions remain in place in some of the dryer parts of the country to preserve the most precious of resources. The results have been quite positive with water savings exceeding levels that would not have been imagined a few years ago. There have been a few incentives put in place by some local governments but on the whole it has been through an increase of awareness that the improvements have been made.

Some people simply want to save money and have come to the realization that if they use less water they will save more money. With the recent financial crisis every penny has counted and perhaps there has been a commensurate drop in water and power usage as a result.

Talk of rebates on items such as artificial grass has also prompted a few people to rip out the dead or dying front lawn and replaced it with fake grass. The eternal green look of the lawn may have been the incentive for many or maybe it was the fact that the grass no longer needs to be cut. But the bonus for the rest of us is that they won’t be pouring hundreds of gallons of water into the ground to keep it green.

Our Bow When We Were Young

When we were young my brother took up the sport of archery and bought himself a compound bow, from memory I think it was a Hoyt compound bow. We’d take that bow out to our relative’s farm and set about shooting at targets and the odd wild animal. There were plenty of rabbits running around on the farm and he happened to bag himself one, one day. He thought he’d made it as a hunter he was so pleased with himself.

He took it a bit too far just after that when he shot a magpie. Rabbits I don’t have a problem with, they are overrunning the place, but when you shoot a magpie, that just seems wrong.

Anyway, I had a go at drawing and firing my brother’s bow and was amazed at just how difficult it actually was to draw back the string. I was also a little surprised at the necessary equipment he had to buy to go with his bow.

I wonder what happened to that bow. For us young fellas it was ideal. It felt as though we were shooting it particularly quick, although these days the speed of the old bow would probably be laughable.
