The impact that retro table lamps can have on a room really hits home when you actually redesign and decorate a room yourself. A modern retro style was the sort of thing we were aiming for and decided that a couple of retro table lamps would set the entire room off. Selecting table lamps can become much more than a simple job of placing accessories thanks to the options they give you.
We started with a simple pottery retro table lamp design that would sit at either end of the sideboard. It’s possible to find a big variety of lamp stands with endless detail work or lovely paintwork, or both, to choose from. We then adjusted our preference for matching table lamps to different pieces preferring the imbalance it created as well as the chance to buy two pieces.
Looking at stained glass lamp shades really means one thing – Tiffany lamps. The stained glass table lamps definitely made a statement in the room but we felt that they were somewhat overwhelming for a small dining room.
Other types of retro table lamps that really caught my eye were small Atomic table lamps, some chic gourd table lamps and, shooting at the more modern side of the retro look, a range of space age influenced chrome table lamps.
It’s not surprising that the whole mood of the room changes depending on the sort of retro lamp that is on display. The type of lamp shade and the strength of light it allows helps create the atmosphere. Going out to buy retro table lamps is a part of the process that must be taken seriously.
